PANIC! ...NOW! MAYBE... NOT YET?

Since I work at an animal shelter, and it's pretty much my entire life, I really try to get people to consider adopting an adult before looking at the puppies. Now, I know that puppies are cute and playful and sweet, but hear me out: getting an adult dog can be very benificial.
Reasons: 1. More times than not, the adult dog will be housebroken. 2. No chewing! 3. Older dogs won't wake you up in the middle of the night. (They enjoy sleep as much as you do!) 4. No home-alone driven home-destruction. 5. Easier vet trips. 6. What You See Is What You Get. Size, temperment, personality, activeness, etc. 7. Adult dogs aren't as nippy. 8. Instant companion. Older dogs can go everywhere and do everything with you NOW. 9. The deepness of the bond. Dogs who have been uprooted from their happy homes or have not had the best start in life are more likely to bond very completely and deeply with their new people. Have I convinced you? Those of you who think dogs are only worth having when they're cute little puppies, you are WRONG! A dog's ability to love people does not diminish after puppyhood. If anything, it strengthens it! This is free to use, but please Also, our beautiful cover girl up there is the lovely Roxie. She is currently residing at SICSA. If you're interested please visit the website! |

My family got the dog I grew up with once she was already an adult, and she has been the BEST. We got to skip all the puppy troubles and go right to the fun!

That's why I'm adopting a puppy- it gives us more time to spend with the dog. I understand adult dogs need a home just as much as a puppy, but from my view point in 2 1/2 years my dog became my best friend and it absolutely broke my heart that I lost him to old age so soon.

But I disagree with the chewing. That was a major problem of hers, and it still is. Just not as bad as before xD she also likes to get into the garbage o.o
Now she's a fatass LOL
